Participate in Mentoring Roundtable at the APHA Annual Meeting
Organize the annual SAAPHI conference at APHA; identify speakers for annual SAAPHI conference; work with other organizations and partners to organize annual SAAPHI conference and other APHA symposiums.
MENTORING + PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Identify mentoring and professional development needs of young SAAPHI members; identify potential mentors; identify potential mentoring and professional development resources and organiztions for SAAPHI members.
Identify potential funders; work with President to submit grants for funding; work with Treasurers to set budget for the year and identify funding priorities; mobilize membership to pay dues and donate through phone banks and campaigns.
Maintain an updated SAAPHI directory; develop set of benefits for SAAPHI membership; Post information to SAAPHI listserv; compile a list of public health organizations to advertise SAAPHI-sponsored events; update social media outlets.
SCIENCE + POLICY
Distribute call for, review and select abstracts for annual Symposium; moderate Symposium; Inform members of policies influencing African American health; liaise to the Joint Policy Committee of the Societies of Epidemiology and National Salt Reduction Initiative.
