If so, we urge you to get involved with SAAPHI. There are a number of opportunities for professional development and leadership within SAAPHI. COMMITTEES
CONFERENCE
Organize the annual SAAPHI symposium by developing conference themes, identifying speakers, developing abstract calls and coordinating review, collaborating with other organizations and partners to participate in the symposium, and increases conference participation by engaging past, existing, and potential members.
MEMBERSHIP
Inform members of current and proposed policies influencing health, convene experts to discuss interdisciplinary policy solutions, provides training to membership support scientific research, develop and support policy statements, and liaise to national committees and community organizations.
FINANCE
Identify potential funders and sponsors; work with President to submit grants for funding; work with treasurer to set budget for the year and identify funding priorities; mobilize membership to pay dues and donate through phone banks and campaigns.
MENTORING + PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Identify mentoring and professional development needs of SAAPHI members at by career stage and interest, coordinate mentoring relationships, provide mentoring and professional development resources to SAAPHI members, host annual mentoring and professional development roundtable.
PUBLIC RELATIONS
Maintain SAAPHI listserv and newsletter, compile a list of public health organizations to advertise SAAPHI sponsored events, update social media outlets, communicate with membership.
