When I was younger, I trained in swimming almost every day. I thought putting in the hours would automatically push me to the top, but I kept hitting a wall at competitions. It wasn’t about stamina or technique, it was like my brain would just tense up before I even hit the water. One race I remember clearly—I was in the best shape of my life but came in dead last because I panicked before the start. That was the first time I realized discipline in training wasn’t enough, and I needed to figure out how to control the mental side too.
