The theme of the 2017 SAAPHI Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium is "Celebrating 25 Years of Excellence in Advocacy, Research, & Leadership."
We invite you to join us for a dynamic meeting designed to increase understanding of strategies and opportunities aimed at creating and implementing policies to promote health throughout the African Diaspora.

ANNUAL MEETING
SCIENTIFIC SYMPOSIUM
This year's symposium is centered on the subtheme “Building Bridges Between Communities, Research, and Policy to Achieve Health Equity” demonstrating the intersection of community, research and policy to addresses disparities and the structural, social and political barriers that allow them to persist. Abstracts reflecting new and innovative information in any area of public health disproportionately impacting members of the African Diaspora are welcome.

PAST PRESIDENT'S FORUM
Past SAAPHI Presidents speak about SAAPHI's history as well as the future impact of the organization on the African Diaspora.
POLICY
FORUM
Engage leaders in a discussion of Public Health Policy and the role of academicians, researchers, and public health practitioners in informing policy.
The implication of present and future policy in times of uncertainty on the African Diaspora will be explored.
MENTORING & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT LEADERSHIP PANEL
Students and early-career professionals are invited to attend our mentoring and professional development panel! This year’s panel will focus on becoming a leader within APHA. Experienced professionals and leaders within the American Public Health Association will share their wealth of information about APHA governance and how to become a leader within APHA. This is also an excellent opportunity to identify and connect with potential mentors.
