This year's pre-conference meeting for the 146th APHA Annual Meeting will take place on

November 10, 2018 from at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront in San Diego, CA!

This year our meeting is a collaboration between the Black Caucus of Health Workers (BCHW), Black Ladies in Public Health (BLiPH) & the Society of African American Public Health Issues (SAAPHI).

The theme of the pre-conference meeting is "Living History: Honoring our Past, Uplifting our Future."

We invite you to join us for a dynamic meeting designed to increase understanding of strategies and opportunities aimed at creating and implementing policies to promote health throughout the African Diaspora.

This hour-long session is designed to be an interactive session with a diverse panel of contributors who have chapters in the upcoming APHA volume, Is it Race or Racism?: State of the Evidence and Tools for the Public Health Professional.

This panel will focus on: 1) strategies to help public health professionals navigate the politics of race and racism in public health, 2) how to create safe spaces for open dialogue and advocacy for policy and institutional change to focus on health equity work.
